OK, so here's the story.I usually train pretty regularly and am very lean with a body fat % of around 10%. In January I broke 3 ribs in a snowboarding accident and was told not to do any lifting or training at the gym for 3 to 6 months. In that time, I have relaxed and thankfully healed well - I have also piled on 7kg's of body weight (about 15lbs). My normal training eight is 76kg (167lbs), and my current weight is 82kg (180lbs).Before I hit the gym I'm wanting to get my cardio fitness back to a comfortable level, trim the excess fat and general improve my lung capacity. To do this, I ditched the car and for a road bike and now cycle to work and back every day.I ride 40km each day (23 miles), with an elevation of approx. 600m net (i.e. it's pretty hilly!!)My question is, is this the right way to lose weight in a healthy fashion? How quickly should I expect results? and with a consumption of around 2000cal per day, am I over doing it? or is this a good way to get back in shape

Well to be honest, your not eating enough calories with the amount of biking that your doing. Its not good on your muscles to be deprived of food. Your body needs a balance of calories incoming and outgoing. I was on a 5000 calorie diet and my weight was 168, waist 28 inches. That's with a 5 mile jog daily.
