i need to lose some weight and of course i am going to start with a better diet, with excersise i do not have a lot of time so i am thinking about doing yoga and pilates, you know get a video but will this help me lose weight or do they just tone>?

To really drop the fat you need to do cardio and get your heart rate up. Try walk/jogging. Walk a minute, jog a minute. Yoga and pilates are good because it helps you tone, look slender, and have flexibility, but it will take you longer to see results this way.
