you're on the right track. to light weights and watch what you eat. cardio is always good...but dont push your heart rate. you dont want to burn muscle. one week? haha. give it about a month before you see results. the only people who see results that fast are people who are a bit overweight.

walking and running will only help your legs. if you're looking for a total all over tone, try yoga or pilates. and take it seriously. that stuff hurts but it works soooo well.

no such thing as toned, its a stupid word used by people who really want to be lean and have muscle definition. you already know what to do, just dont expect your body to change in a month you need to do it for ages

It takes about 4 weeks before the brain can make solid connections with muscles to start making serious muscle gains. It takes time for your body to adjust to the strains you're putting on it. Keep doing what you're doing.I think you mean 15 repetitions and 4 sets. Make sure you're choosing weights so that at the end of one set (the 15th repetition) you reach exhaustion. This means you muscle is completely fatigued and you can't lift the weight even if you tried. If at 15 you could still lift a few more times, then you haven't reached muscle failure. The muscle, while still maintaining proper form, needs to completely fail. Don't just stop because the muscle has been taxed and the pain of lactic acid buildup has hit.Follow these tips and in 4 weeks you'll notice some gains. Remember that it's hard to see gains yourself, as they are gradual. Ask someone else if they've noticed a change, or take pictures and compare them. That said, I suggest you do this for the health benefit, not how you'll look physically. If you do it for health benefit, you'll stick to it forever. If you are just doing it for looks, it's easy to get frustrated and quit.

Try yoga. It relaxes your mind and body and through a series of gentle but challenging poses your body becomes strong and toned. When I started I could see changes within the first two weeks of regular practice at 5'7 120 lbs. Besides, haven't you ever heard of "yoga butt" its a good thing :p
