Iwould love to hear from a qualified dietician/personal trainer about this issue I've had with my body. I am very fit, I eat well i exercise 5 hours a week at least by dancing/running/ hill walking with weights etc. I have been struggling however to get down to my ideal weight, which is only 3kg less than I am now. I can't seem to budge those last few pounds. It gets so depressing. I've tried everything from low carb diets which just make you gain after you lose the weight and then i've tried detox diets like Dr Joshi and The Food Doctor way of living (not the strict diet). I dont eat chocolate and fatty foods, I eat high fibre, (brown rice/ wheat free bread/ gluten free cereal etc). Im doing everything someone would advise you to do to lose weight but its not working.Im actually going to run another hour at my gym tonight (5 miles) and im sure it won't make any difference. This is so frustrating, can someone give me a plan that WORKS or what am I doing wrong? Im so fed up! thanx

The only thing I can think of is portion size. To me, it is the difference between losing weight and not losing weight. What I eat and how much I exercise doesn't make much difference....

is that some kind of joke? You're "fed up"? Then maybe you should notch it down a bit.

When your in shape it is not about weight, because muscle weighs more than fat. The real question is how do you feel and how do you look. Are you happy with you? Go to this blog and read from the beginning. It will help you. If you have any questions ask Coach A he can really help you. http://coachtu.wordpress.com/

Age can be a factor, the older you are the more difficult it can be to loose those last lbs. This is not advice, and I'm not a dietitian, but an active diet I once tried seems to work wonders. It's a high protein diet, as prescribed by doctors and sport couches. You eat nothing but very high protein foods. (Not the Atkins diet). However, it has its dangers and problems... dangerous if kept up to long (not sure how long, but I would think 2 weeks max), can be expensive and you must be sure to drink large quantities of water. It can make you a little smelly. The diet seems to burn of far more calories than you take in, the weight loss is aggressive, and protein is an appetite inhibitor, so it's difficult to overeat if you do it properly, but it gives you lots of energy for exercises.

Hi, my personal trainer has advised me not to do the same things all the time as your body gets used to it. So for instance if you do alot of running, change for a while and start swimming or cycling. Likewise at the gym, change to the cross trainer instead of the treadmill, your body needs a change every so often otherwise it reaches a plateau. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me as though you have hit a plateau and than can feel very depressing. However, you can break that pattern and get back into fat burning mode. There are 3 main reasons people can't lose weight regardless of what they are doing and I think you may fall into one of those categories. I don't think you are eating enough and I think you need to change up the way you workout in the gym. Try interval training as it sounds to me as though your body has got used to what you've been doing. It needs a new challenge now to start burning fat again. This article I wrote for my clients should explain it a bit more to you with tips on how you can get rid of the stalemate: http://instantfeelgood.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-cant-i-lose-weight.htm lDon't give up - you are doing well, you just need to give your body something new to get stuck into.
