it should tone them rather than slim or bulk up. dont do to much or you will end up bulking them an hour a day should be just right .

I think your legs would only bulk up if you had it set on very high resistance, a flat cycle or slight incline would just tone. Also 4-6 hours of any cardio exercise a week will make you lose weight - I think average cycling burns about 500 calories an hour so that would be nearly a pound a week.

The first thing I will point out is that women can not get bulked up unless they really want to (they have to take steroids or other supplements). You lack the necessary hormones to bulk up. Cycling is just about the best thing you can do to get great muscle tone in your legs. People comment to me at the gym about my legs and I tell them it is from cycling.

Cycling is considered cardio excercise. And cardio burns fat, so you'd slim down.

It all depends on how high your saddle is from the peddles. As a rule of thumb when the peddile is at its lowest point, your leg should be nearly straight, with a very slight bend to the knee,.When cycling in this position you will work all major muscles in your legs, including your bum and calves. I cycle about 50 mins a day and my legs are very slim and toned.Good luck and check your saddle height!
