Try getting an insole for the heel of your shoe from a drugstore to raise your foot just a bit inside the shoe so it rests against a different part. Also wear a bandaid where the shoe seems to catch you.

The only thing I can tell you is pick tennies that don't come up that high and are padded in the back...and put a band aid on your ankle before it gets hurt

Use a wrap thats' what we do in track. If you are not wearing socks that would be your first step. If you are wearing socks and it still happens then try wrapping and wearing socks.

you may need an insole, like the mcjellin things. Or else change the socks that you are wearing. they may be the cause..? No mater what though, you can always put a band-aid on your ankle, this really helps!

Wear 2 pairs of socks. Wear a nylon or moisture wicking sock directly on your foot, and then wear a heavier, mostly cotton sock over that. The outer sock will move with the shoe, and that will rub against your ankle. Since the ankle will be protected by the inner sock, it will slide across the slippery fabric, rather than rubbing on your ankle. Some people just wear a bandaid back there, but for me it just rubs off minutes into the walk. One more suggestion--see if you can find shoes that don't have that high "support" tab in the back of the shoe. I have really heavy calves (cankles) and those shoes are torture to me. I have found a great pair of walking shoes that don't have that tab. They're made by a company called Propet, and the style is called "LifeWalker". I have to order them on line, as no stores around here carry them. I don't think they make a running shoe, though.Good luck.

You must have slender ankles. There is a way to tie your shoes called a butterfly tie that will make them snugger around your ankles. Let see if I can explain this without pictures. 1. lace your shoe strings through the holes in the regular way, but stop just before you get to the last holes.2. Take the right lace and instead of crossing over to the opposite side, lace it through the hole just above.3. Repeat this step on the left side.4. Take the right lace and cross it over to the left hand side lace it under the string that is pulled between the first and second hole.5. Take the left shoe string cross it over to the opposite side and pull it under the string that goes between the second and first holes.6. Pull the laces tight, but not too tight.7. Tie your shoes in the regular bow.Wearing thicker socks and Buying heel guards, like the ones shown in this link will help; http://www.footsmart.com/P-Gel-Heel-Protectors-Set-of-4-40044.aspx
