I love Rockport Walkers. They come in wide sizes too and are comfortable. New Balance is good too. It all depends on what feels best on your feet.

Asics are also very good. The best would be for you to go to a specialist running store that had a treadmill where they can assess your gait (walking pattern). From this they will be able to recommend a shoe that would suit you best. They will see if you have a neutral pattern, if you over pronate or under pronate and recommend a shoe that will compensate for this.Don't be shy to walk around, jog or whatever in the shop. Make sure you are happy with the shoes before buying it.

sacony are really good... if you go with a running shoe it will be lighter... not so much leather material... more mesh... it also has more traction.. if that's what you need, depending on what your walking on. just because its labeled as running... i would take a look at those also. they might not last as long but they will be far more comfortable

New Balance is really good. And tehre is a brand called RYKA that only manufactures women's athletic shoes. I had a pair once and loved them, but they're too expensive for me (I bought them on clearance at end-of-season).
