|
|
| Hi, I'm 15 yrs old. Just asking some other teens, I'm really into being fit and would love to start training but don't know where to start. I'm kinda sky, and my parents don't know that I love bodybuilding, neither do my best friends although they do get the idea that I'm into it. Anyway, I've been doing bodyweight exercises for 2 years now and wanted to go to a gym but.. 'sigh', too shy to tell me parents, or go to a gym.... by myself, as I got no muscle buddies. Just asking, if you guys had the same problem, or just went through the door and grabbed some weights. Sorry for the long paragraph. Thanks |

| You shouldn't worry about what people think or going alone1. Nearly everyone in the gym is on their own anyway2. Even if your friends and family find out you're into keeping fit, so what? Maybe it'll spur them on to make a healthy lifestyle change!Just grab your gear and go!Good luck |

| theres nothing to be shy about lol parents should only be happy that their kids have healthy interests... everybody starts somewhere and really most people mind their own business at the gym so you shouldnt worry.. many people at the gym are probably going to be 10 years your senior so obviously their physique will be ahead of yours nothing weird. |

| I have the same problem, all my freinds are lazy haha. Make sure you take your folks with ya before you sign up with a gym because sometimes they can screw ya. But ya I have to go by myself all the time but its not that bad, if I need a spot or anything I just ask the person nearest to help me. Most people I have meet at the gym are very freindly. |

| If you're in the UK, go to your nearest local authority owned gym. They are usually in the same buildings as swimming pools. You'll find many other young people there, and helpful staff. Furthermore, each session won't cost a lot (about £3). I really can't see the problem with telling your parents. Surely they'd be glad that you want to do something constructive, rather than hang about on street corners drinking as some teenagers do? You never know, your dad may even come with you at first. |
