I walk for an hour or more on the treadmill quite often, but my back always aches afterwards, my toes go numbish after the first 20 minutes, and I get a stabbing pain in the ball of my right foot. Is there a perfect walking shoe for me for around $50?

I've found that new balance is the most comfortable, I have scholiosis and I tend to notice that one of those cheep back support spandex things really works also. You can get them at Wal Mart.

Look for a sneaker with a gel heel. Asics is the best brand I believe. Some models are less than $50. The gel is the best support for your foot and back. New Balance is foam, Nike is air and Adidas has a special foam, but it's not as good as the gel. Saucany is a good brand too. PS... if you're in pain while you're working out, you should stop and rest a bit. Your body is trying to tell you something lol

Your best bet is in a good insole. It sounds like you have flat feet and just need more arch support (you may also have high arches as opposed to fallen, but that's something you can figure out by simply comparing your foot to a friend or family member of comparable size). You can get good insoles at most shoe stores
