My sister in law's mother was 81 and lived a happy life in Arizona. She had been a widow for many years, lived alone, kept active, and volunteered for her church.Last Friday morning, her walking buddy knocked on her door for their daily exercise. When my sister in law's mom did not answer the door, the neighborhood friend let herself in with the house key that she had been given. She found the 81 year old lady dead...beaten to death by someone who broke in,apparently overnight.WHY??Why are these atrocities allowed to occur by a Higher Power ??Hey 'Wry'--If it were YOUR mother, you would not feel this way.Or--gee--perhaps you would...

Mostly likely because there's no God.I'm sure you'll get some fine word-salad from other believers to explain this tragedy, but I think my answer is the simplest and thus probably most correct, unfortunately.I am sorry for your loss.

Simply put, God has bigger problems to fry.I sympathize but you must understand. Another possible answer is the one offered by first answerer, Guyster. We need to be brave, to watch out for the helpless, and to be kind and diligent; we need to accept the possibility that there is no god, and that we are the ones responsible to take care of everything.

I'm so sorry for this tragedy hitting your family member, the poor woman. The truth is, there is no easy answer. We live in a fallen, broken world, and in that world there are just some really evil people who will prey upon the helpless and innocent.______I recommend reading "The Shack" for some spiritual perspective on this.

As tragic as that is, and it is...we live in a fallen world where people have free will that was given to them BEFORE the fall. We have choices to make every day and our choices impact those around us, as no one lives in a vacuum. For God to take away the free will of the person who did that to that poor woman, would make God unjust. God is ALWAYS righteous and just, full of mercy and grace. Why do you look at God and say "why did you let this happen?" rather than look at our society and say "why do we let this happen?"Blessings.

you always have free will. He doesn't pressure you at all. and because of that people are allowed to do whatever they want. so many evil and terrible things happen to people all around because they aren't covered or secured truly by the Almighty. or it could've been just her time to go.

"THEY" will basically say, either god works in mysterious ways and you will see her in heaven so be good and look forward to that. OR "they" will say she sinned, or that these things happen so that we can appreciate the value of life, so that we can grow spiritually, we can make our souls. Its all Baloney! Sh*t happens and what you have said is just f*cked up. People are F*cked up. The world is a flawed place.Im sorry to hear such dreadful news.

Free will. God didn't stop the criminal because he allows everyone to choose what they do in life. Sadly, some people choose to be evil.My deepest apologies for the tragedy you and your sister in law are going through. I pray for your comfort, and that whoever did this will be brought to justice.

I would not dwell on what has happened, but on comforting those who are left behind to deal with the tragedy. You cannot do anything to help that precious old lady. I don't believe God had anything to do with her tragic beating and death. I won't begin to imagine why God would let it happen, man lets it happen.Atrocities happen because of the low energy of hate and violence that people think and feel-not because God decided to do it or have it happen.

Some things we will never understand or know - God is all knowing and all powerful. It isn't something He *WANTS* is for us to be tortured and hurt. Satan has been given reign of the earth for the time being, and it's up to us to stay strong and faithful to God. At least she was saved, and she is up in heaven now, rejoicing forever.

People who do such things just don't have Jesus in them, don't know Jesus, reject Jesus, or have deep pyschological and mental issues. They just don't know what good is.It's not God's fault, he respects the free will that He gave us. If you want to blame anyone, blame Satan who is the father of all evil.

We can't blame God for this. It is man that does these things because of sin. God has an account of this persons attacker, and he will get his punishment. He will not get away with it. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. but the unjust has to answer to God. God can punish better than any one else can. And going to heaven isn't that bad. think of it as God bringing her home.
