|
|
For walking long distances I have to wear shoes with a slightly raised heel because whenever I wear flat shoes after a few minutes I get pain in my calves and the muscles feel very tight and will hurt for the rest of the day. Sometimes if I wear flats for a little bit each day, gradually increasing, I can take longer and longer wearing them, but it's a bit of a hassle not being able to wear completely flat shoes to walk for longer than 10 mins as they're so comfy apart from the calf pain! I've heard this could be fallen arches? When I place my foot on the floor I can see a good arch so I dont think I've got 'flat feet'.

flats don't give enough support so it will cause calf pain. With my flats I have to put an extra sole with an arch so I dont get the pain.

You might have flat feet but if you want to continue wearing flats, you can buy a foot sole for your shoe, they come at drug stores, basicly everywhere that has hygenic help products.

Because wearing heels elevates your ankle, and in time, shrinks your calf muscle, so, what would/should be normal extension hurts.Try wearing flats or lower heels regularly, when you don't have to doll-up, otherwise you may really hurt, when you get older.

You probably walk hard (not necessarily stomping but something like that) and there's no cushion or anything to easy the forced pressure on your heels which goes directly to your legs.

don't get orthodics if you don't want to but i would say keep wearing them and your body will get use to it and if its been years like that then do wut amanda suggested get orthodix. you can however get arched soles and they make gel ones too so you can be gellin at the same time. ive stuck my foot in a gel one before and they feel amazing but i hate to spoil myself cuz im strong! no pain no gain!

I have the problem as well and it is actually recent and appears to be due to a design change in shoes (I've worn 'flats' for more than a decade due to knee problem). I have high arches. I added Dr. Scholls new moldable insoles and that has resolved the problem except on long walks. I think the heel just isn't high enough (maybe need another 1/8 inch), so am going for some other moldable insoles.Your feet change over your life as does the insoles and design of shoes. Just the way it is - generic shoes don't work for everybody all the time.

When you wear heels or chronically elevate your heel, the calf muscle in your leg actually begins to compact itself, and the foot will adjust to the shape/size of the shoe you routinely put it in. When you start wearing your shoes flat, your feet need to adjust. It's never good to wear flats right after long-time wearing heels. Gradually work your way down to a flatter shoe and try some foot exercises and massage to get it flexible. Patience.

Your back calf muscles are not fully streatched. Therefore, when you wear flats, your muscles are "streatching".

Hi there.....If you've only worn shoes with a slightly raised heel, then your calf muscles are somewhat shorter than they would be if you were walking barefoot, with sandals (flip flops), or flat shoes. The only cure for that is to wear flat shoes as an every day item as you go about your day, for as long as you can. Then switch to your other shoes if your calves begin to hurt.Do this daily until you can wear those flat shoes all the timeNo fallen arches. Has nothing to do with this.Try this routine above for at least 30 days....maybe it will take a bit longer. It will be uncomfortable for awhile, but stick to it. It is like any other exercise, your muscles may scream out a bit, but slowly ease them into the routine and all will be well.I am an RN

Flats don't give any support to your arches and are actually pretty bad for your feet. The muscles are very stretched when you wear them. A small comfortable heel - like a wedge is better. If you look at your athletic shoes, you will see that the reason they are so comfortable is that they have support for the arch and also have a heel so that your foot is at a comfortable level.

i had the same problem. my foot doctor told me just because you see an arch doesnt mean that its not fallen. walking long distance he told me to wear walking or jogging sneakers not the cheap ones. do your feet feels better than heels because mines do. i can wear heels all day with no problems.flats are not comfortable for everyone. he told me if i wanted to wear flat shoes buy an arch from Dr.sholles you can get that in any drug store. if that doesnt work you might need to get a shoe with a very small heel. i know the flat shoes can be so pretty sometimes and can be tempting to buy but try not to do like i did and spend money on shoes you cant wear its a waist of money. GOOD LUCK!!!
