I'm planning on following a 12 week fitness plan that includes one hour a week of "core strength", but i'm not too sure what this would involve.I don't really want to go to the gym because i wouldn't know what i was doing but i would like it to involve weights...Can anyone recommend some weights, i quite like the look of the medicine balls, and a good dvd that you have ACTUALLY tried?Or maybe a specific class that focuses on using weights, but nothing like yoga or pilates...Thanks

Yoga and Pilates will show you how to work JUST your core muscles in a fashion you would be pleased with. Why not just give it a try?

its pretty hard to involve weights with core strength workouts. Though some good ones you can do are.Lie on your back arms by your side, press your legs against each other, lift them up in the air and draw the numbers from 1-10 with your feet.sit ups of course.Prone hold. and hold it for 1 minute, if its too hard make it a bit shorter and visa versa(google images if u dnt know what it is)1 weight workout is.Stand up straight (back straight) hold a weight in one hand doesnt matter which one (cause ull switch).lean to the opposite side the weight is on and lift back up again. Repeat this till u start to get sore. Then switch. This does the obliques (or V muscles)Sorry didnt help much, goodluck though!!

I started yoga (sort of reluctantly) several months ago and I am SO GLAD I did. My core strength has at least quadrupled! I couldn't even do one push up for example and now I can do 15 to 20 in a row without stopping, plus I'm becomming "ripped" in my arms and abs. I would suggest the yoga. That will eventually lead you into the weight training that you desire. And don't be afraid of the gym. If you are not sure what you are supposed to be doing - ask a personal trainer that's floating around, that's what they are there for.

A great big ball, and some small hand weights can get you into the best shape ever. look up ball exercises on line for specifics. Inexpensive but very effective. Hope this helps.
