I need a good weight loss program to help me loss 25-30 pounds by about June or July. I still have about that much weight left on me from my pregnancy with my 19 month old son, and hope to get pregnant again in June/July. I do not want that extra weight on me as I am a diabetic and the more weight I have, the harder it is to control my diabetes and it is very hard to control during pregnancy as it is. I belong to a gym, but am confused on the proper excersises to do and how many calories I need to consume. A friend said no more calories than 1200, but I have read that someone my size needs more or my body will go into starvation mode and begin burning muscle. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

First off....set a more realistic goal, lest you get discouraged. The best way to start off, is to evaluate your current diet and exercise habits. Try keeping a journal for a week of what you eat, when you eat it, and how you feel when you eat. This self-discovery session can identify your diet pitfalls, and show you where changes need to be made. Then, it's just a matter of altering your habits to reach your goal. Healthy weight loss is considered 1-2 lbs lost a week, and to do that, you need to burn more calories than you consume. Creating a deficit of 500 calories will get you where you need to be. In other words, shave 250 calories from your daily consumption amount, and burn 250 through exercise. Don't try any extreme low-cal diets (1200 is LOW) but focus on eating healthy....between 1800 and 2000 calories a day, and 30 grams of fat or less (keep in mind, your body NEEDS some fat)Diet wise, eat fresh produce, lean proteins, healthy fats (like nuts, olive oils, salmon) and whole grains. Limit your intake of processed foods and sugars. You will feel the change in your body almost immediately, as it processes whole foods much differently that processed ones. Try working some exercise into your day 5 days a week....a 20 minute walk a day is a good start, and you can bring the kids along! Set realistic goals...focus on how you feel instead of the numbers on the scale. Devote yourself to being the healthiest mom you can be!EDIT: Bankyun, it's better to start with small goals. Women tend to have a more difficult time losing body fat than men due to a difference in amount of body fat and metabolism. It's not impossible to lose that amount in 3 months, but it will be difficult, and can be discuraging to not reach said goal in the allotted time frame. Setting small goals can keep you motivated.

Biking 30 minutes evry other day and eating high protien, low fat food will put you at a good weight. If you are 30 pounds overwright, this will easily take of the 30 pounds in 3 months.

To Rachael: Why is her goal unrealistic? I lost 40lbs in 3 months no problem. And it wasn't excessive either, doctors suggest you don't lose more than about 3lbs a week.I highly highly highly recommend a program called Body for Life by Bill Phillips. The book is available in pretty much any book store or library. It's an amazing realistic program that honestly changed my life.

Check with your doctor. Three of my friends did a shake diet through local hospitals where all they ate were shakes each day. It is expensive and you must be considered obese. I can't think of the exact name of the diet right now though. Sorry.

no offence but this is not going to happen, join a gym and hire a trainer they can set you on the right tracks. remember rome wasnt built in a day and unrealistic ambitions can only lead to being let down. good luck

I am not sure exactly how many calories that YOU specifically need to burn but I am sure that would be fairly easy to find online and I know I just saw a formula the other day on an "answer."What I CAN tell you is the exercise part.....Two big things....First, you need to find a cardio exercise that you are comfortable with and get it in at least 2-3 days a week. Treadmill, elliptical, rowing, stairmaster.....they are all good (elliptical is my fav). Then, you need to have a 5-10m warm up, and then spend about 20-30 m in your Target Heart Rate Zone. Second, you need to add weights in. Partially because it is important for women (to avoid osteoperosis) need weight bearing to. The other part is that weight lifting/training actually burns calories long after you are done because the muscles needs to repair itself after the workout therefore still burning calories to do so.If you are anything like me, I do both in the same session due to lack of time.If you would like more info on Target Heart Rate email me at barneycoolstudent@yahoo.comGood Luck!

A couple of things to think about:- As a diabetic, reducing your calorie count isn't going to be healthy.- Anything lower than 1600-2200 calories/day (depending on activity level) is going to send your body into starvation mode. Which means you won't lose any weight as your body begins retaining the fat stores to survive.- A healthy rate of weight loss is about 1-3 pounds/week. Bob Greene's Best Life plan is one that I always recommend. Its' not a diet- but will re-teach you how to look at food, when and how to eat it and why food is so important. Food is your best friend when losing weight, not the enemy as urban legend has taught us. You need those calories and nutrients to fuel your body and give it the energy it needs to burn fat.Below I've included links for Bob Greene, as well as the Diabetic Living Diet and BabyFit, a post-pregnancy weight loss program. You're definitely in a unique situation- given the post-pregnancy and looking toward another, large weight loss goal and that you're diabetic. I encourage you to visit with your doctor. Use the advice here for research, but definitely seek out his/her opinion to ensure you find the healthiest program for you. Good luck!

Did you ever try doing a body cleanse? I have always considered doing a cleanse because I think we are all toxic from so many things in our environments, but many of them were too complicated and I did not think I would be able to stick to it. I finally found one I thought I could do and I am SO HAPPY! I lost 10 pounds in a week and 28 pounds in a month. I feel so much better. Let me tell you, once you start seeing results, you can do anything! Get more info from http://evercleanse.tripod.com or toll free 1-877-587-4647.
